Enhancements to CRCA Masters Racing in 2019

The all-volunteer CRCA Board is pleased to announce several enhancements for CRCA Masters racing in the coming season!

  • Open Race field structures - for 2018 many of our Open Race Masters field structures included 35+ riders to reflect New York State Championship standing for Grant’s Tomb and Bear Mountain. In response to feedback received, for 2019 we are reverting to a more traditional 40+ structure for our Men’s Masters fields.

  • Additional Masters field at Bear Mountain - we currently plan on running three separate Masters fields in the first wave of racers at Bear Mountain. This will allow Masters racers to race first thing in morning, with multiple fields to choose from depending on age/category.

  • Additional Masters race in the CRCA Club Series - we also increased the number of Masters fields for the Central Park Club Series by 1. We felt this was the appropriate balance for our ‘5th Field’ allotment for Central Park Club Races.

  • NEW Masters Series Team Competition - we will be awarding a ‘Masters Series Team Competition’ Award across the various Open Race and Club Series Masters fields. Scoring methodology will match the other team based competitions (Men/Women’s Team Cup and the B-Field Team Competition). The winning team will be presented an award at the end of season part.

In sum we hope these enhancements make for a more exciting season of racing for all of our Masters
