CRCA Dave Jordan Central Park Classic Race Predictions

With registration passing 325 riders and a $10,000 prize pool on the line its time to once again break out the Road-Results.com super computer and take a look at projected results for one of the biggest races of the year. If you haven't registered yet there may still be a few spaces available in certain fields on Bikereg. Or consider racing the FBF Classic on Sunday, which is the second part of the $1,200 CRCA Dave Jordan NYC Omnium Stage Race. Stay tuned for a final update once registration closes!

Dave Jordan Men's Championship Field (P/1/2/3)

The nearly full Men's Championship Field is certainly one of the strongest fields that Central Park has seen in some time - the projected top 10 is stacked with potential race winners including Brian Breach (GS Mengoni USA) who has already scored at least six wins this season with his most recent victory on April 28. Despite this successful start to the season, according to the Road Results super computers Brian isn't the projected winner - in fact he isn't even on the projected podium.

Instead the honor of projected race winner goes to 2013 CRCA Orchard Beach Crit 2nd place finisher Niel Bezdek (CRCA/Foundation) who will be making his first start in Central Park this year.

According to Road Results Neil's closest competition is Tony Hall (Champion System p/b Stan's NoTubes) who has been busy stage racing as of late but does have an early season solo victory under his belt at the Bethel Spring Series.

Close behind Tony is the Stan's NoTubes p/b Proferrin duo of Mike Margarite and Chase Goldstein as well as Rafal Urzedowski (Team Somerville Bicycle Shop p/b Showcase Auto Body).

And while the Road Results super computers don't give him much love with a projected 23rd place finish we'll call out CRCA Jim Boyd Series Leader Chris Strumolo (CRCA/Dave Jordan Racing) as a major threat for the win with a recent record that includes victories at Battenkill, the NYC Spring Series and the CRCA Racing Series.

Dave Jordan Women's Championship Field (W)

We're excited to have a 37-strong Women's Championship Field registered for the CRCA Dave Jordan Central Park Classic. With primes on every lap the racing will be exciting and with this competitive of a field its difficult even for the Road Results super computers to predict a winner - in fact the projected top 7 riders come from six different teams.

However as was the case with the CRCA Orchard Beach Crit the honor of projected winner goes to Amanda Braverman (CRCA/Stan's NoTubes p/b enduranceWERX). Amanda started the season very well racing for the Stage-1/FusionTHINK team at the Bethel Spring Series, scoring two wins and three podiums. Now we're excited to have her racing for the Dave Jordan Women's Championship in Central Park.

Just behind Amanda in the projected results is Danielle Kosecki (CRCA/Asphalt Green Cycling Team) who scored an impressive second place finish at the CRCA Orchard Beach Crit, matching her placing from the 2013 Tour of the Battenkill.

The projected top five is rounded off by Carol-Lynn Mills (CRCA/Houlihan Lokey), Camie Kornely (CRCA/Stan's NoTubes p/b enduranceWERX) and Sarah Chubb Sauvayre (CRCA/BH Comedy Central).

With a number of sprinters in contention and a lot of prime money on the table it will be interesting to see how this field plays out - can any of the breakaway artists escape?

Men's Cat 3 Field

The Men's Cat 3 Field has a number of sizeable teams making an appearance: Black Tie Sports / Spin, CRCA/FGX Racing, CRCA/Asphalt Green Cycling Team, CRCA/Foundation, CRCA/Sixcycle-RK&O and Major Taylor Iron Riders Racing all have a handful of riders registered so it will be interesting to see what race strategy these larger teams employ.

However when it comes to projected results the Road Results super computers the data zeros in on Chris Chong Tenn (CRCA/Diehad) as the projected winner. Chris made his 2013 debut at the CRCA Orchard Beach Crit and walked away with a fourth place finish in the M3 field.

Just behind him is Antonio Munoz (CRCA/Foundation) who has been ramping his season nicely, most recently scoring a sixth place finish at the CRCA Orchard Beach Crit.

The projected podium is rounded out by Ian Farrar (Freedom Business Management) who is making his 2013 debut in Central Park but who raced heavily in the Master's field at Bethel, scoring top 5 finishes in five of his six races.

A bit further down the projected finishers is Mihael Ginghina (CRCA/TARGETTRAINING Tri & Cycle), who won a leaders jersey from the NY Spring Series during a campaign that included two victories and a TT in hiking boots.

We also can't help but notice 2013 CRCA Orchard Beach Crit Men's Cat 3 Champion Corey Morenz (CRCA/Sixcycle-RK&O) slotted in with a projected 15th place finish.

Men's Cat 4 Field

The Men's Cat 4 field at the CRCA Dave Jordan Central Park Classic is the largest field of the day, with a nearly full 15 person wait list. It's always difficult to pick a winner from this field and that challenge is made that much more difficult by the fact that there are primes on every single lap, making for unpredictable racing.

However the Road Results super computers aren't phased and pick Stanislaw Arciszewski (Unattached) as the likely winner. Stanislaw most recently scored a second place finish in the Master's field at the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup.

Just behind him in the projected results is Noah Gellner (CRCA/Foundation) who most recently scored second at the Tour of the Battenkill and second in the NYC Spring Series.

There are also two CRCA/Dave Jordan Racing high up in the projected results - Erick Fernandez and Brett Halpern - and we'd love to see them score the victory in honor of former CRCA President Dave Jordan.

A bit further down the projected results we'll also call out Todd Royal (CRCA/W&D Racing/NYC Velo) as a contender simply because he was the lucky winner of free entry for the race - maybe he'll be just as lucky on race day and score the victory.
