Early Season Wins & Celebrations
As we approach the second quarter of the race season, the CRCA board is excited to share an update on the state of membership and spotlight some improvements to our systems.
Growing Membership Numbers
We are happy to announce that this past week we crossed the threshold of 400 racing members*, trending over 5% more than this time last year. Basic membership has lowered the cost of trying out the sport and getting to know the club, and the board has received overwhelmingly positive feedback about this option. We see that reflected in an almost 20% increase in new members compared to this time last year.
Our commitment to the Inclusivity Policy is fueling a surge in the Women/Trans/Femme field, which has grown by 25%! We are motivated to keep investing in the growth of the WDev field and drawing more positive attention to the great racing happening there.
As we expected, more members chose the Basic membership over Season Pass. We are closely watching how the new membership structure affects marshaling and club finances.
*In the past, Associate members were not counted as racing members. Since the Associate membership is now replaced by the Basic membership, the racing membership now includes Season Pass, Basic, and Donor members.
Updated Membership Pricing
Given that we are a quarter of the way through the CRCA club racing calendar, we have lowered the prices of all Season Pass Tiers. If you haven’t yet, now is a wonderful time to join CRCA and take advantage of warmer temperatures at the start line!
An Improved Member Portal
You may have noticed substantial exciting additions to the Member Portal! Gone are the days of finding Google spreadsheets, trawling external websites for results, texting your teammates to see if they are racing. All these features will be available in one place — Member Portal.
Some quality of life improvements have been added to the Race Registration feature, allowing you to sort by team to count teammates attending as well as refresh your team affiliation if you have changed teams.
The refreshed Portal now allows members to view finalized race results in the Results tab. Here you will find points breakdowns for applicable Overall Competitions
In the Competitions tab, you can keep track of overall competitions. Using the dropdown, you can toggle between various applicable fields.
If you are a CRCA sub-team member or a manager, you can now manage your team directly via the Teams tab. Here you can approve new additions to your team as well as check on everyone’s standing with the club
Up next, we are going to define and formalize our category upgrade process to make it easy for members to request an upgrade via the Portal. For now, please email membership@crca.net with category upgrade requests.
A Redesigned Website
We were thrilled to launch a redesigned CRCA website last month, which also became a new home for race photos.
The new design has earned glowing reviews, particularly from new members who now find navigating the club site easier than ever. Together with the Member Portal, this redesign is part of an effort to clarify the club’s offerings and communications with members, potential new racers, and the public.
Streamlined Club Kit Orders
New for 2026, members of the CRCA community can now order CRCA Club Kit on a rolling basis, with special pricing on summer and winter bundles. The kit is made by Pissei and manufactured in Italy. Your orders are sent to Pissei on the first of every month.
A Successful First Clinic
Our first Beginner Bike Race Clinic on April 18 was a resounding success, as 85 new racers took to the Central Park course in warm spring weather. Guided by 17 dedicated mentors from our CRCA sub-teams, participants received an introduction to the sport in a supportive, hands-on environment. We can’t wait to see these new faces at our three club races this May!
Looking forward in May
This is also your cue to register—and check out your competition—on the Member Portal. We race on May 9, May 16, and May 30. See you there!
