Familiarize yourself with the Technical Guide in full, but please remember that the #1 rule of racing in Central Park is to never race in the rec lane. Do not even ride on the double white line. You will get DQ’d for the first offense, and if you break this rule twice, you will be suspended for the remainder of the season.

 NUMBERS/CHIPS & NUMBER PICKUP

There will be day-of number and chip pick up for riders who were unable to pick up numbers at the pre-season events. Number and chip pick up will close at 6:35am. Please make sure you give yourself extra time to check in and pick up your numbers, chips, etc.

Numbers are pinned on your right side and rear pockets. You must have both numbers pinned in order to race. Timing chips should be affixed on the fork of your bike. Please refer to the chip placement instructions for guidance on how to install your chip on your bike. There will be zipties and snips at the registration tent if you need to affix your timing chip.

SPRINT JERSEY COMPETITION

Every scratch race will include intermediate sprints for an overall Series Sprint Leader's Jersey, sponsored byPissei. All riders racing in the Men’s A, B or Women’s Open field are eligible for the competition. Rules below:

  • Sprints are contested at the designated finish line of the race.

  • Intermediate Sprint points are awarded to the first 4 finishers in descending order:  4-3-2-1

  • Races with 4 laps shall have sprints at the conclusion of the 1st and 3rd laps.

  • Races with 5 or more laps shall have sprints at the conclusion of the 2nd and 4th laps.

Sprint Series leaders can collect their jersey at the podium ceremony after the race (so they can be a marked rider at the next race)!

 MARSHALS

Marshal must be at their locations 30 minutes before the start of the race, i.e. by 6:25 AM. NYC Parks strictly enforces our marshal requirements. They begin their marshal checks half an hour before start time and we cannot start the race until they give us the all clear. Marshals who arrive late put us at risk of losing our park permits and delay the start for racers. Teams with assigned marshals that do not show will have to forfeit another team member to serve as a marshal if there’s a marshal deficit.

Check the member portal for your marshal assignment days and check your inbox and spam if you are assigned and have not yet received your marshal assignment email sent from marshal@crca.net. If you still can't find it, please reach out to marshal@crca.net for assistance.

Please refer to the Marshaling Instructions and Marshaling Policy for additional information.

MARSAL

PODIUMS & LEADERS JERSEYS

Podium ceremonies will be held at the Boathouse 15 minutes after the conclusion of the race. Please report to the Boathouse after your race if you placed within the top 3 of your field. After this race, the current Series Leaders must wear their Leader’s Jersey in the race. You may lose series points if you race without the sponsored jersey. If you’re in contention for a leader’s jersey, stay immediately after podiums to claim your jersey from the podium announcer.

Podios

CLOTHING POLICY

Due to early season weather conditions we are relaxing the clothing policy for visible CRCA logos. However, whenever possible, please make sure you are wearing the proper club or sub-team kit if you are on a sub-team. If you are wearing an unaffiliated jersey (i.e., not a professional, national/world champion, or another sub-team jersey), please make sure you wear CRCA patches compliant with our club policy.

*New for 2026* Members on teams that are not CRCA sub-teams may wear their team’s kit. However, please make sure you wear CRCA patches compliant with our club policy when required. Reach out to teams@crca.net if you are interested in becoming a CRCA subteam and gaining eligibility for CRCA Team competitions.

Vestimenta

RIDER CONDUCT

In the past, after Club Series races, riders have been reported by NYC Parks for riding backward on the Central Park loop and/or riding on walking paths. This conduct threatens the existence of our races and will be subject to an immediate DQ and possible suspension. We ask riders to please be aware of the traffic laws in Central Park, especially for cyclists, some of which are highlighted here, under Central Park Protocol for Cycling and Training.

Please note, when returning to the Boathouse after completion of your race and entering the Park, we ask you to enter the Park’s East and West Drives with caution and yield to races going on as they have the right of way.

At no point are you permitted to ride your bike in the Recreation lane, before, during or after the race. If you are caught doing so officials, you will receive an immediate suspension. Please treat this rule with respect as it is pivotal to our continued use of Central Park.

ROSTERS

In order to race you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • You have attended a skills session or are Category 3 or above

  • You and your team have no active suspensions

  • You have signed your race waiver

If you are not registered for the race, you are not permitted to join the race. You will be penalized if you are caught joining a race that you are not registered for. Be sure to check that you’re registered in the races tab of the Member Portal.

Be sure to check your team affiliation prior to race start to ensure your team earns points if you have a strong result. If you have joined a team after registering and need to refresh your team affiliation in the race roster, expand the “Who’s racing” section and click the refresh icon.

Rosters

Para poder correr necesitas:

  2. No tener suspensiones activas (tú o tu equipo).

RESULTS

Prior to every race, we will update this link to allow your friends and family to watch the results update in real time. You’ll also be able to use that link to check your results after the race. Racers without a timing chip will not show up in the real-time results, but will be taken into account in the final results sheet. Exception: timing chips are required for scoring in points format races.

Official results will be uploaded to the Member Dashboard after the race, along with Boyd and Team Competition standings.

If you have any questions about your placement in a Club Race, please please email the VP of Club Racing. The protest period closes 48 hours after the end of the race.

Race photos will be posted on the CRCA Facebook page.
