The chilled weather and winding down of the road season did not put a damper on our active CRCA women. With cyclocross growing in popularity, especially among the female contingent, we continue to see amazing results by our fellow club members across the region and beyond. Here's a look back on some of our ladies' accomplishments so far this season in 'cross.
Bamacross? Yes please! Asphalt Green Cycling Team racer, Stephanie Kaplan, recently traveled to her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama for a wedding and decided to drop into a race in the Bamacross series. Despite having overindulged a bit at the wedding the night before and dropping her chain in the last lap, she still managed a 2nd place finish in the W4 field! Maybe all that 'Bama BBQ gave her an edge? Check out her race report for more photos and details.
Meanwhile, in our neck of the woods, Rockstar Games/Signature Cycles first year Cx racer, Luci Olewinski has been tearin' up the W4 field. She's landed herself on the 2nd podium spot at every race she's started in the past 3 weekends: Bubblecross, SCCX and Horseshoe Scramble. Elites next, Luci?
But wait, who's that other CRCA lady in the picture? Team Houlihan Lokey's Carol-Lynn Mills also earned herself a coveted 3rd place spot at SCCX. Nice job crowding the podium!
Not to be outdone, the Radical Media ladies also showed their dominance by grabbing top spots in the Women's 3/4 race at West Point Cyclocross. Dara Kiese and Erica Adelberg marched their way to 1st and 2nd place, respectively.
And last but certainly not least, our club's elite women have also been very busy showing us all why they are... well, elite!
Our own CRCA coach Tara Parsons, racing for Amrita (a new 2013 CRCA subteam), has had a very successful season thus far. Tara placed 3rd at Horseshoe Scramble, 3rd at Marty Cross Day 1 and 2nd at Marty Cross Day 2, 2nd at Weswood Velo Cross, and 1st at SCCX.
BrittLee Bowman is racing with Pedal Power in the USA Cycling Pro-CX competition, where she is ranked 24th overall in a very competitive national elite field. So far this season she has had 8 top 10 UCI finishes and locally, she came in 2nd at Hop Brook and 1st at Cheshire Cross. We will be following her as she makes her way to Nationals later in January.
Keep up the amazing racing, ladies!
Lots of our CRCA women (and men) will be racing at SuperCross this upcoming weekend, so come out and get your cowbell on!
