CRCA Member Conduct & Unsanctioned Racing

Members,

As you may be aware, certain individuals have been organizing unsanctioned night races in Central Park and Prospect Park without permits and in violation of law. Each violation of NYC Parks rules by bike racers is a reflection on all of us, and certainly, a mass start race puts all of our permits in jeopardy across the city.

This is especially egregious now, given the state of the COVID-19 pandemic is still uncertain (and spiking in some areas), and given all we've done as a club and community to try to flatten the curve. We've all had to sacrifice during this time. It was a difficult decision to cancel our events, but we do so for the safety of our members, staff, volunteers, our families, and greater community.

In case it was not clear, no CRCA members should participate in this kind of illegal unsanctioned racing. If we witness members racing in CRCA kit, we will take commensurate disciplinary action including individual member and/or team suspension or expulsion from the club.

CRCA members are a highly visible group and we expect one another to serve as ambassadors for our club and our sport. Please help us in upholding our Code of Conduct, and remind friends and teammates to also conduct themselves accordingly.
